Ford brand’s June sales rose sharply in Russia last month

Demand for the locally built Focus compact sedan resulted to a steep rise in sales last June for the Ford brand in Russia. According to the Association of European Businesses, Ford’s June volume went up by 115% to 9,804 units while Focus sales rose by 181% to 7,565 units.

The Focus is ranked fifth in Russia with six-month sales of 30,088 cars, up by 3% when compared with the same period in 2009. AEB data further reveal that this is the first time that the Focus had entered Russia’s top five since February. The surge in sales of the Focus, which is produced in St. Petersburg, also enabled Ford to overtake Hyundai and take fifth place in Russian six-month sales with a total volume of 39,369 units, 20% lower than the same period last year.
