Deliveries of the 2011 Ford Fiesta to U.S. dealerships will be delayed by 10 days

Deliveries of the 2011 Ford Fiesta to U.S. dealerships will be delayed by 10 daysUS dealerships will receive the 2011 Ford Fiesta subcompact 10 days to two weeks later than expected due to the damage on railroad lines caused by Hurricane Alex on June 30 and by Tropical Storm Bonnie.

Ford Motor Co.’s shipments were delayed as there was severe damage on the key railroads in northern Mexico. You can view the extent of the storm damage on Ford’s Fiesta page on Facebook. Angie Kozleski, a Ford spokeswoman, said that Ford ships a “significant amount of vehicles via railroad” but that it still continues to ship. Since Ford has to reroute it, it takes some time. She also said that Ford has begun producing the Fiesta in early May at its plant in Cuautitlan, Mexico, near Mexico City. The much-anticipated entry-level Fiesta, which has an estimated gas mileage of 29 in the city and 40 on the highway, is a new addition to the Ford lineup. It has gotten a lot of attention and in fact, there are long waiting lists for it. Many customers complained on Facebook about their vehicles getting to them about two weeks late. Measuring 174 inches long and 78 inches wide, the base Fiesta sedan is priced at $13,995, including destination charges. Ford offers it with the new 120-hp 1.6-liter Duratec four-cylinder engine as standard.
