Hyundai continues to break records even in Australia

In Australia, the Hyundai iMax continues to smash records. In June, the range had a market share of 24.1%, its highest ever monthly record set in the people mover segment. Hyundai was named the top importer in June and it ranked fourth overall for the month.

It came in third place with regards to passenger car sales. Hyundai was also able to post its best ever monthly result since the factory put up the wholly owned subsidiary Hyundai Motor Company Australia. For the month of June, Hyundai sold 8,055 units – its second best ever sales record since it started selling cars in Australia in 1986. Meanwhile, the 42,371 June YTD 2010 cumulative sales result stands for the best ever first-half year result. Damien Meredith, Hyundai’s Director of Sales, said that the carmaker did well in terms of sales and awards. Several Hyundai vehicles were recognized in the 2010 Vehicle Operating Costs Surveys conducted by the NRMA, RACV, RACQ, RAA, RAC and RACT motoring clubs. The newer models such as the i30 and the ix35 compact SUV have also been gaining recognition by various leading organizations. Hyundai’s new model roll-out continues in July with its launch of the new i20 compact hatch, which is expected to be highly competitive in the light car segment.
